CyberBytes has an unusual business model that might be best described as post-MSP. Based in the Buffalo suburb of Tonawanda, NY, CyberBytes adopted IT Glue a couple of years ago when it was competing in the MSP space, but has found valuable uses for the platform even after leaving hardware behind.

“We used to sell on margin. Now we offer value by automating a lot of the work on an IT employee, automating things that computers are great at but people are not.”

“About six months ago, I began to transition out of the MSP space,” CEO Alex Bass explains. CyberBytes left hardware and on-prem behind, and now offers SaaS software management to its clients, something that has allowed CyberBytes to enjoy greater geographic diversity. The company’s flagship product is a CRM, and its password solution is MyGlue.

Alex found that business owners were struggling with managing other password solutions, and thus adoption was low.  One example problem, Alex points out, is offboarding. “Business owners are managing these apps, and having all kinds of problems with things like offboarding employees, where they wanted to clean out an account but retain a password for the rest of the team. MyGlue solves these problems. So I’m using a lot of MyGlue right now.”

“I like the ease of set-up, and the sharing capacity.” The proliferation of SaaS applications, Alex observes, has led to a sharp increase in the use of team-based passwords for different applications. “We’re maintaining so much software for clients, and since we already knew how to use the functionality in MyGlue, it was pretty easy for us to see the value in adopting it as a password vault for our clients.”

MyGlue complements CyberBytes’ new business model well. “We used to sell on margin. Now we offer value by automating a lot of the work on an IT employee, automating things that computers are great at but people are not.”

The transition to the new business model is paying off, too. CyberBytes now serves a broader market than was ever possible, simply by getting rid of the hardware side of the business. “We can be based in Buffalo, where the cost of living is low, but have most of our clients on the West Coast. It’s a form of arbitrage.”

MyGlue is one piece of the puzzle for CyberBytes. But by filling the role of a flexible, secure password vault that requires little support but provides a lot of value, MyGlue has become an indispensable solution for CyberBytes and its clients.
