Terence is, after Plautus, the greatest Roman comic dramatist. The plays of Plautus are full of life and vigor, while the works of Terence show more insight and philosophy. The verse quoted above is certainly his most praised and admired sentence.

It seems as if Plautus would be better appreciated as a playwright now, since he was so down to earth, and that seems to be the style now.
