Bacchus

Michelangelo Merisi da CARAVAGGIO, Bacchus (c. 1596).
Uffizi, Florence.

This picture was painted by the Italian artist Caravaggio (1571-1610), who is placed in what we call “the Baroque School”. Bacchus, who is represented here, is the Roman god of wine, who also inspires and cultivates creativity in the arts. He is the same as the Greek god Dionysos.
